Tammy Garcia is a Doctoral prepared  Advance Practice Nurse Practitioner who is dual certified in both family health and mental health across the life span. Dr. Tammy has been working in mental health since 2012. Since 2014, she has been treating the severe and persistent mentally ill (SPMI) population. Dr. Tammy has had training in prescribing and managing long acting antipsychotic injectables often used to treat the SPMI population such as Invega Sustenna, Haldol Deconate and Abilify Maintena, etc. 

 

Dr. Tammy grew up in the Cabarrus County area. Dr. Tammy completed her undergraduate and graduate degree in Family Nurse Practitioner at Winston Salem State University. Dr. Tammy completed a post masters certificate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Psychiatry; and completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Dr. Tammy is board certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. 

 

In addition to practicing in medicine, Dr. Tammy has worked in nursing academia in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in North Carolina and Virginia at major universities since 2011.
